2018 BUENOS AIRES DECLARATION

The ICOMOS Advisory Committee, meeting in Buenos Aires on 5 December 2018 celebrates the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. ICOMOS supports the right to enjoy and partake of cultural heritage and reiterates its commitment to supporting Rights Based Approaches to World Heritage. In keeping with its mandate, and as also stated in the 1972 World Heritage Convention, ICOMOS has taken important initiatives over the last decade to respect, protect and fulfil the rights to culture for individuals and communities by including Rights Based approaches in its work, as in the current Our Common Dignity Initiative.
