1975 AMSTERDAM DECLARATION

The Congress of Amsterdam, the crowning event of European architectural heritage Year 1975, and composed of delegates from all parts of Europe, wholeheartedly welcomes the Charter promulgated by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, which recognizes that Europe’s unique architecture is the common heritage of all her peoples and which declared the intention of the Mem‐ ber States to work with one another and with other European governments for its protection. The Congress likewise affirms that Europe’s architectural heritage is an integral part of the cultural heritage of the whole world and has noted with great satisfaction the mutual undertaking to promote co-operation and exchanges in the field of culture contained in the Final Act of the Congress on Security and Co-operation in Europe adopted at Helsinki in July of this year.
